One of the main difficulties with an app that relies on crowdsourcing is encouraging people to report information. Lineup would love the help of UX Designers to understanding the psyche of a LineUp user, testing out potential solutions, and designing an interface that makes it easy and fun to report wait times.

2. Design an interface that makes it easy and fun to report wait times
3. Test out potential solutions
PROBLEM STATEMENT
RESEARCH + SYNTHESIS
From our initial meeting with the CEO of LineUp we discovered that there was a larger goal for the product. That goal being that LineUp could be used for any line weather it is a sample sale, the DMV or a restaurant. With this information we decided to screen for general crowdsourcing users as well as interview the primary LineUp users.

We discovered that the LineUp user and the general crowdsourcing app/site user both had the same needs, goals, behaviours and pain points. This led to one list of 'I' statements, one persona and then developing a user journey for the user using the LineUp app.
"I" STATEMENTS
-
I rely heavily on information provided by other users
-
I use rewards/incentives when I can save money
-
I like when apps are customized to me
-
I like when apps give me rewards for completing a task
-
I want my reviews to be helpful to others
-
I use crowdsourcing apps/sites to make travel decisions
-
I use crowdsourcing apps when they fit my daily routine
THE PROBLEM
Insight
People who want to go to bars in the city use crowdsourcing apps to help them find information on where to go and how long the lines are.
Problem
Michael uses the LineUp app to find bars and their wait times, but he is unclear about the wait time reporting system and has a lack of incentive to engage with it.
Opportunity
How might we encourage him to report on LineUp and give him clarity on wait time reporting while helping him to achieve his goal?

MAIN TAKEAWAYS
• In order to get users to engage with an app, it needs to sync in with the users daily routine.
• Providing a reward it needs to be achievable and the user should not have to go out of their way to redeem it.
• Making sure your product is fully accessible for all users is incredibly important.
